Free Rail Zone
You can ride MAX Light Rail and Portland Streetcar within downtown Portland, the Rose Quarter and the Lloyd District for free—all day, every day.
The Free Rail Zone includes most of downtown Portland (within the boundaries
of the Willamette River, NW Irving and I-405), as well
as MAX stations from the Rose Quarter to Lloyd Center. Look for Free Rail Zone emblems at rail stations within these boundaries.
When boarding a train in this area, just take a seat and enjoy the ride—on us! Fare is not required unless you are traveling outside of the Free Rail Zone.
