Adult Fares and TriMet's Fare Zones
For ages 18-64, your fare depends on where you are going
TriMet's service area is divided into 3 fare zones and a Free Rail Zone. Adult fares are based on the number of zones you will be traveling in. You can use the Trip Planner to determine the correct fare for your trip.
- Example: If you want to travel from Gresham Transit Center to downtown Portland, your trip would require an All-Zone fare, because you are traveling in all 3 fare zones.
- If you're using an Honored Citizen or Youth/Student fare, you don't have to worry about zones, as these fares are valid in all zones.
- You can upgrade from a 2-Zone fare to an All-Zone fare by giving a bus operator 30 cents when you board.
Note: WES Commuter Rail always requires an All-Zone fare.
