More Lighting for I-205 Bike/Ped Path

$3.8 million in federal stimulus funds will add up to seven miles of lighting along the path

Crews begin work adding new lighting along the I-205 Multi-Use Path

Crews have added new lighting along the I-205 Multi-Use Path from Foster Road in Portland to Sunnyside Road in Clackamas County.

TriMet and the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) are dedicating $3.8 million of federal stimulus funds to improve the I-205 Multi-Use Path from Foster Road in SE Portland to Gladstone in Clackamas County.

The addition of more lighting will enhance safety along this major bike and pedestrian path and encourage more people to ride their bike and walk to transit. Path lighting is complete from SE Foster Road in Portland to SE Sunnyside Road in Clackamas County. Work to add lighting from Sunnyside Road to Gladstone is pending federal approval.

The project is being funded with federal stimulus money from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), including $1.3 million from TriMet and $2.5 million from ODOT. It will create about two dozen jobs, and includes calling five people back to work and preventing six layoffs.
