Milwaukie Park & Ride Facility
January 6, 2010
U.S. Congressman Earl Blumenauer joined local officials for a ribbon cutting event for the Milwaukie Park & Ride facility January 6. TriMet used $1.5 million of federal stimulus funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) to construct the facility.
The new lot is located at 9600 SE Main at the intersection of SE Milport Road and Main Street and is open all days, with a 24-hour parking limit. The lot has 329 spaces and 4 bike lockers will be installed. Bike parking is available at the adjacent northbound bus stop. Commuters in the SE McLoughlin Boulevard corridor now have convenient connections to four TriMet bus lines:
-
31-King Rd - Weekday rush-hour service operates between Clackamas Town Center and Portland City Center. Weekday mid-day and weekend service operates between Clackamas Town Center and Milwaukie.
-
32-Oatfield - Weekday rush-hour service between Clackamas Community College and downtown Portland. Weekday mid-day service operates between Milwaukie Transit Center and Clackamas Community College. Saturday service operates between Oregon City Transit Center and Clackamas Community College. No Sunday service.
33-McLoughlin - Weekday and weekend service to Portland City Center, from Clackamas Community College or Oregon City Transit Center. Frequent service every 15 minutes or better during weekday morning and evening rush hour.
99-McLoughlin Express - Weekday rush hour service between Portland City Center and Clackamas Community College. No weekend service.
The project allowed 11 new hires and prevented eight layoffs among the contractor and subcontractors working on this project, which also included the installation of curbs, retaining walls, sidewalks and driveways, pedestrian improvements along SE Main Street, paving and striping, irrigation and stormwater treatment measures, lighting, landscaping and security cameras.
The contractor was Nutter Corporation of Vancouver, Washington. Subcontractors included HDJ Design Group, Sharp Associates, ADK Electric, Rain City Striping and Fox Erosion Control.
