Washington County Commuter Rail construction continues in Beaverton
Two intersections have weekend closures in March
Intersection reconstruction on the 14.7-mile Washington County Commuter Rail line continues in March with closures on two weekends. Crews will remove existing rail, install new rail and resurface the intersections at 5th St and SW Hall Blvd in Beaverton.
5th Street
Work will close this intersection from Friday, March 9th at 7 p.m. to Monday, March 12th at 5 a.m. Traffic will be detoured around the construction zone using SW Griffith, SW Beaverton-Hillsdale and SW Lombard Rd. Motorists can expect minor delays.
SW Hall Blvd
Work will close this intersection from Friday, March 23rd at 7 p.m. to Monday, March 26th at 5 a.m. Traffic will be detoured around the construction zone using SW Cascade, SW Scholls Ferry and SW Nimbus. Motorists can expect minor delays.
What’s next:
One intersection in Beaverton will be closed for reconstruction in April:
- SW Main St. April 20th - 23rd
Other intersections closures will occur in May, July, November and December.
About the project:
Washington County Commuter Rail will offer a new transportation option in the heavily traveled I-5/Hwy 217 corridor. Using existing freight tracks, the new line will provide weekday rush hour service, and connect with Blue and Red MAX trains and bus service in Beaverton, and local bus service in Tigard, Tualatin and Wilsonville. More than 600 park & ride spaces will be available at three of the five stations. Travel time between Beaverton and Wilsonville is 27 minutes. Top speed of the train is 60 mph and will average 37 mph.
