Burnside Bridge reopens

The Burnside Bridge reopened Tuesday, October 16, following a month-long closure to replace two counterweight hinges on the lift span.  The bridge reopens with a single traffic lane in each direction and sidewalks open on both sides.

The bridge is in the final phase of a two-year project to replace the lift span deck and complete mechanical repairs to the lift span.  The $9 million project is scheduled to be completed at the end of this year.

Multnomah County maintains the Burnside Bridge, five other Willamette River bridges, and more than 300 miles of roads.
