Main St in Tigard reduced to one lane for 10 days
Traffic change due to commuter rail construction
Construction on the Washington County Commuter Rail project will close one of two lanes of SW Main St in Tigard for 10 days starting Monday, March 10. Work is scheduled from 7 a.m. - 6 p.m. weekdays through March 21. Flaggers will be on hand directing traffic through the construction zone and motorists should expect delays.
Crews will be placing a concrete median along Main St between Commercial and Tigard streets. The median will prevent left turn access on and off of Main St, reducing the potential for vehicles to be stopped on the tracks during train crossings. Work also includes regrading and paving that section of Main St.
About the project
Washington County Commuter Rail will use existing freight tracks to provide commuter rail service to Beaverton, Tigard, Tualatin and Wilsonville when it opens in fall 2008. It is the first commuter rail line in Oregon, and among a handful of suburb-to-suburb commuter lines in the country. When complete it will connect to the Beaverton Transit Center with nearly a dozen bus lines, and MAX Blue and Red lines as well as bus service at each station.
