Bus service changes effective May 24
Most changes from buses moving back to Portland Mall; summer shuttles begin; other adjustments to routes, schedules
On Sunday, May 24, 18 bus lines move from 3rd and 4th avenues in downtown Portland and return to the renovated Portland Mall on 5th and 6th avenues. In addition to buses moving back to the Mall, there are several other changes to bus service taking place May 24.
Most significant changes
- 10-NE 33rd Ave: changing number and route to become 73-NE 33rd Ave. Its route will end at Rose Quarter Transit Center, no longer traveling into downtown Portland. This allows improved midday frequency from 30 minutes to 20 minutes along NE 33rd Avenue.
- 5th Avenue, north of Burnside: Lines 9-Broadway/Powell and 17-Holgate/NW 21st will use Broadway instead of 5th Avenue to help buses avoid delays due to traffic congestion.
- Clay and Market: All buses that currently enter and leave downtown via SW Clay and Market will be re-routed to SW Harrison Street. This will help buses avoid delays due to traffic congestion.
Summer shuttles begin
- Washington Park Shuttle - Runs daily from May 24 through September 13, then weekends only until November 1. Buses will run every 15 minutes from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
