Fare and service changes take effect in September

August 26, 2011

10 bus lines and MAX Blue Line will have trips added to relieve crowding; other bus lines will be altered to improve schedule reliability

In September, TriMet is making changes to fares as well adjustments to 25 bus and MAX lines.

Fare changes

Effective September 1, adult all-zone and 2-zone fares will increase by 5 cents in addition to increases to other passes. The fare changes are being made to offset the increasing cost of providing transit service and restore some service on 10 bus lines and MAX Blue Line to help relieve crowding.

New monthly pass

A 30-day rolling pass, implemented in response to requests from riders, is also available beginning September 1. The pass is valid 30 days from the date of purchase, giving riders the convenience and savings of a monthly pass that can be bought any time during the month.

The current monthly pass is valid from the first day of the month through the last day of the month and can be purchased after the 20th of the previous month up until the start of the new month. The new pass can be purchased any time and roll 30 days forward.

The new 30-day rolling pass joins existing 7-day and 14-day rolling passes. All passes are available at the TriMet Ticket Office at Pioneer Courthouse Square.

Service changes

Effective Sunday, September 4, TriMet is implementing seasonal service adjustments to improve service reliability, relieve passenger crowding and to match capacity with demand. There will be new schedules on 24 bus lines and MAX Blue Line.
