TriMet adds extra service for Grand Floral Parade

June 6, 2011

Day of parade is TriMet's busiest Saturday of year

TriMet will add service on MAX and buses to take riders to and from the Grand Floral Parade on Saturday, June 11. The day of the parade is TriMet's busiest Saturday of the year. Last year, MAX and bus ridership for the day of the Grand Floral parade was up 27 percent compared with typical Saturdays, and MAX ridership was up 46 percent.

Riders should plan extra time for their trips through the Lloyd District and downtown because trains and buses will be stopped periodically for the parade. Trains will also be full much of the day due to other events, including the Grand Floral Walk and a Timbers home match.

Service for Grand Floral Parade

Saturday, June 11, 10 a.m., Memorial Coliseum through downtown Portland

MAX service

MAX will run on Saturday schedules, with extra trains added before and after the parade. MAX Blue, Green, Red and Yellow lines will continue to run through downtown during the parade. All MAX stations will be open.

Bus service

Buses will run on Saturday schedules. Buses will continue to run through downtown along 5th and 6th avenues during the parade. Nine bus lines—4, 6, 9, 12, 15, 19, 20, 35 and 44—intersect the parade route in other areas and will be rerouted.

TriMet staff will be at several MAX stations and bus stops before and after the parade to provide assistance and sell day passes, which are valid for unlimited rides on buses and MAX until the end of the service day.
