TriMet names new Executive Director

October 21, 2011

Randy M. Stedman brings 30 years of labor relations experience to the agency

Randy M. Stedman has been named as the TriMet's new Executive Director of Labor Relations and Human Resources. He comes to TriMet from Workplace Practices Group (W-P-G) in Lake Oswego where he was the Founding Principal and carried out multiple labor contracts as chief negotiator. Stedman begins in this new and expanded position on November 14, 2011.

"With nearly 85 percent of our workforce represented, TriMet is committed to having a good working relationship with our union and Randy's years of experience in labor relations will be key in continuing to build that successful relationship with the ATU," said TriMet General Manager Neil McFarlane. "As we look to strengthening our commitment to maintaining a highly qualified and energized workforce while containing our costs, his experience will be crucial as we work toward our goal of excellent customer service and fiscal sustainability."

Randy brings extensive experience in labor relations and human resources to TriMet. His prior experience includes work at Concera Corporation as Vice President, Human Resources and at Copeland Lumber Yards Inc, as a Vice President. He also served on the Washington Public Employer Labor Relations Association Board, MEP at Work, the Oregon National Multiple Sclerosis Society Board of Trustees, and Board of Directors Northwest EEO.

While TriMet's budget is financially constrained, TriMet created this new position through the retirement of another executive director position.
