TriMet adds service for Race for the Cure
Riders encouraged to plan extra time to travel downtown due to expected large crowds at the annual event
With more than 45,000 participants expected for the 2009 Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure on Sunday, September 20, TriMet will add service to help riders get to the event at Waterfront Park.
Event service
- All MAX lines will run on regular Sunday service
- Because Green Line trains don’t run out of Clackamas Town Center before 8:15 a.m. on Sunday, three extra trips to city center have been added leaving CTC at 6:30 a.m., 7 a.m. and 7:30 a.m.
- On Blue and Red lines, extra trains will be in service from 6 to 9 a.m. to help riders get to the event
Several bus stops on the race route will be closed in downtown and northwest Portland with signs directing riders to nearby stops.
Make riding easy
- Plan extra time. Bus and MAX riders should plan an extra 15 to 30 minutes for their Sunday morning trips.
- Purchase tickets in advance. Discount tickets valid for race day only are available for purchase at the Komen Health Fair at the Oregon Convention Center on Friday, September 18, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday, September 19, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Special event tickets are $4.50 for adults, $3 for youth/students and $1.75 for Honored Citizens.
- Plan trips in advance. For complete TriMet schedules and trip planning, visit trimet.org or call 503-238-RIDE (7433) weekdays between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.
