TriMet adds service for Race for the Cure

September 13, 2011

Some bus lines will be detoured around race downtown

TriMet will add extra MAX service to help get riders to the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure event Sunday, Sept. 18, at the Tom McCall Waterfront Park. The extra service will run from 6 to 9 a.m.

The day of the race is TriMet's busiest Sunday of the year, with an increase of as much as 18 percent over typical Sundays. Last year, systemwide ridership on the day of the event was 166,200.

Extra service

  • All buses and MAX lines will run on Sunday schedules.
  • Extra Green Line trains will leave the Clackamas Town Center TC at 6:37, 6:58 and 7:26 a.m.
  • Blue and Yellow lines will have extra trains in service from 6 to 9 a.m.

Bus lines 4, 8, 9, 15, 33, 35, 44 and 77 will be detoured around the race, and bus stops on the race route will be closed. Due to expected crowds, bus and MAX riders should plan for extra time on their trips.

Discount passes available

Discounted All-Zone Day Passes are available at the Komen Heath Expo at the Oregon Convention Center on Friday, Sept. 16, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 17, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Day Passes are $4.50 for adults, $3 for youth and $2 for Honored Citizens.
