MAX Green Line and WES continue double digit growth; bus ridership edges up
Nearly 8.7 million trips were taken on buses, MAX and WES in August. Weekly ridership on all modes increased 1.5 percent during the month compared with August 2010.
Double-digit increases for weekday rides continue on the MAX Green Line and WES – up 12.7 percent and 18.6 percent, respectively. Average weekday bus ridership rose slightly over the same month last year. All figures below are compared with August 2010.
Bus, MAX & WES
- Weekly trips were up 1.5 percent to 1,931,500
- Weekday trips were up 1.9 percent to 315,260
- Weekend trips were down 0.4 percent to 355,200
- Rush hour trips were up 1.2 percent to 94,960
Bus
- Weekly trips were up less than 0.1 percent at 1,077,200
- Weekday trips were up 0.1 percent to 179,200
- Weekend trips were down 0.1 percent to 181,200
- Rush hour trips were down 0.5 percent to 55,100
MAX
- Weekly trips were up 3.2 percent to 846,000
- Weekday trips were up 4.3 percent to 134,400
- Weekend trips were down 0.7 percent to 174,000
- Rush hour trips were up 3.2 percent to 38,200
MAX Green Line
- Weekday trips were up 12.7 percent to 23,100
- Weekend trips were up 6.7 percent to 26,900
WES
- Weekday/rush hour trips were up 18.6 percent to 1,660
- Weekly trips were up 18.6 percent to 8,300
