Route and Stations
Route
In 2008, jurisdictional partners and the public examined alternatives for the Portland-Milwaukie Light Rail Transit Project. Ultimately, the current alignment of the project was selected in July 2008. The route includes:
- an extension of light rail from Portland State University south
- 10 new stations—two on the west side of the Willamette River and eight on the east side
- The Portland-Milwaukie Light Rail Bridge spanning the river from OSHU’s future South Waterfront campus to OMSI
- a south terminus on SE Park Avenue in Clackamas County
Stations
Note: The renderings and station area plans below were produced at 90 percent design of the project. All station and structure designs, as depicted in these graphics, are subject to change.
Fact sheets are provided in Spanish for station areas near a higher number of households with Spanish-speaking members.

Station Area Planning
In 2007 and 2008, Metro conducted analysis of proposed station areas along the Southeast Portland, Milwaukie and North Clackamas County portions of the alignment. Access the resulting report. Design for station areas approved in the 2008 LPA advanced during the year-long Preliminary Engineering phase, which ended on March 31, 2010. Details of much of this preliminary planning and design work can be found in the project Conceptual Design Report.
Progress on station area planning continues in the current Final Design phase.
