More Police will Ride MAX

TriMet is creating westside and eastside police precincts

TriMet is creating westside and eastside police precincts, dedicating more officers within their community to better patrol the transit system— particularly the MAX line.

The Westside Precinct will consist of five officers from the Hillsboro and Beaverton police departments and the Washington County Sheriff's Office. The officers will begin riding the system by the end of January.

TriMet is working with the Gresham Police Department to create an Eastside Precinct, where officers from the Gresham and Portland police bureaus and the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office will be dedicated to the Eastside. The Eastside Precinct is expected to be operational in February.

Our goal is to increase the number of officers and the time they spend riding buses and trains.
