Public Art and TriMet's WES Commuter Rail

In May 2008, Oregon Art Beat, a program produced by Oregon Public Broadcasting, showcased the process by which public art for TriMet's WES (short for Westside Express Service) Commuter Rail was conceived, guided and created.

A portion of the episode, "Everybody's Art," focuses on the interactive artworks that Frank Boyden, a nationally known ceramic artist, printmaker and sculptor, and Brad Rude, an artist with years of experience in foundry work and metal sculpture, are creating for the five WES stations.

Boyden and Rude's groundbreaking sculptures will encourage commuters at WES stations to interact with the artwork and with each other.

"Everybody's Art" follows the two artists from their initial meetings through design, review and fabrication of their work. Along the way, viewers will visit their studio, the foundry amd meetings of TriMet's Commuter Rail Art Advisory Committee.

"Everybody's Art" can be viewed at Oregon Art Beat.
