MAX Red Line Route Description

MAX Red Line runs every day.

MAX Red Line is one of three light rail lines in Portland. It runs along a fixed track set into the ground and only stops at designated MAX stations and transit centers. MAX Red Line is 25.5 miles long (5.5 miles between Gateway Transit Center and Portland International Airport) and shares tracks and stations with MAX Blue Line between Gateway Transit Center and Beaverton Transit Center. MAX Red and Blue lines share tracks and stations with MAX Yellow Line between Old Town/Chinatown Station and Galleria/SW 10th Ave Station.

To Portland City Center/Beaverton Transit Center, from Portland International Airport (Zone 3).

MAX Red Line travels south from Portland International Airport Station, located at PDX near baggage claim, and stops at each of the following stations in the order they are listed:

Mt Hood Ave Station, located on Northeast Cascades Parkway at Mount Hood Avenue.

Cascades Station, located on Northeast Cascades Parkway at Mount Saint Helens Avenue.

Parkrose/Sumner Transit Center, located on Northeast 95th Avenue at Sandy Boulevard.

Gateway/NE 99th Ave Transit Center, located on Northeast 99th Avenue at Pacific Street. Gateway/NE 99th Ave Transit Center is the last stop in Zone 3.

MAX Red Line turns west and continues travel to NE 82nd Ave Station, located on Northeast 82nd Avenue at Halsey Street. NE 82nd Ave Station is the first stop in Zone 2.

NE 60th Ave Station, located on Northeast 60th Avenue between Halsey Street and Glisan Street.

Hollywood/NE 42nd Ave Transit Center, located on Northeast 42nd Avenue at Halsey Street. Hollywood/NE 42nd Ave Transit Center is the last stop in Zone 2.

Lloyd Center/NE 11th Ave Station, located on Northeast Holladay Street at 11th Avenue. Lloyd Center/NE 11th Ave Station is the first stop in Zone 1, entering Fareless Square.

NE 7th Ave Station, located on Northeast Holladay Street at 7th Avenue.

Convention Center Station, located on Northeast Holladay Street at Martin Luther King Junior Boulevard.

Rose Quarter Transit Center, located on North Holladay Street at Wheeler Street. Transfer to MAX Yellow Line at nearby Interstate/Rose Quarter Station, located on North Interstate Avenue at Multnomah Boulevard.

MAX Red Line crosses the Willamette River via the Steel Bridge.

Old Town/Chinatown Station, located on Northwest 1st Avenue at Davis Street. Entering Central Business District and downtown Portland.

Skidmore Fountain Station, located on Southwest 1st Avenue under the Burnside Bridge.

Oak/SW 1st Ave Station, located on Southwest 1st Avenue at Oak Street.

Morrison/SW 3rd Ave Station, located on Southwest 3rd Avenue at Morrison Street.

Mall/SW 5th Ave Station, located on Southwest Morrison Street at 5th Avenue. Transfer to bus lines serving the Portland Mall.

Pioneer Square North Station, located on Southwest Morrison Street at Broadway Street.

Galleria/SW 10th Ave Station, located on Southwest Morrison Street at 10th Avenue. Last stop Fareless Square. Transfer to the nearby Portland Streetcar at Southwest 10th Avenue and Alder Street (to Good Samaritan Hospital), or Southwest 11th Avenue and Alder Street (to Portland State University).

PGE Park Station, located on Southwest Yamhill Street at 17th Avenue.

Kings Hill/SW Salmon St Station, located on Southwest 18th Avenue at Salmon Street.

Goose Hollow/SW Jefferson St Station, located on Southwest 18th Avenue at Jefferson Street.

MAX Red Line enters the 3-mile Robertson Tunnel.

Washington Park Station, located on Southwest Knights Boulevard at the Oregon Zoo. Washington Park Station is the last stop in Zone 1.

There are no stops in Zone 2.

MAX Red Line exits the Robertson Tunnel.

Sunset Transit Center, located on Southwest Barnes Road at Highway 217. Sunset Transit Center is the first stop in Zone 3.

Beaverton Transit Center, located on Southwest Lombard Avenue north of Canyon Road.

MAX Red Line turns around and begins travel toward Portland City Center/Portland International Airport.

To Portland City Center/Portland International Airport, from Beaverton Transit Center (Zone 3).

MAX Red Line travels east from Beaverton Transit Center, located on Southwest Lombard Avenue north of Canyon Road, and stops at each of the following stations in the order they are listed:

Sunset Transit Center, located on Southwest Barnes Road at Highway 217. Sunset Transit Center is the last stop in Zone 3.

MAX Red Line enters the 3-mile Robertson Tunnel.

There are no stops in Zone 2.

Washington Park Station, located on Southwest Knights Boulevard at the Oregon Zoo. Washington Park Station is the first stop in Zone 1.
