Portland Mall (Transit Mall) Service

Bus service has moved to 3rd/4th and Columbia/Jefferson

The Portland Mall (5th and 6th avenues in downtown Portland) is currently under construction as the Portland Mall Light Rail Project adds new MAX tracks between Union Station and Portland State University.

Effective January 14, 2007, TriMet and C-TRAN bus service moved off of the Mall. Most bus lines now serve new stops located along 3rd and 4th avenues and Columbia and Jefferson streets. These changes will remain in effect through spring 2009.

New stops and shelters on 3rd and 4th

New stops along 3rd and 4th avenues between Madison and Burnside are located every four to five blocks. There are shelters at most stops, wherever sidewalk space allows. All stops are accessible to people with disabilities.

About the I-205/Portland Mall Light Rail Project

Construction will begin on the 8.3-mile I-205/Portland Mall MAX Light Rail Project in February 2007. The project will bring MAX to Clackamas County, improve downtown transit service between Union Station and Portland State University, help renovate the Portland Mall and position our region for future MAX extensions.
