TransitTracker
TriMet's real-time arrival information system
TransitTracker™ provides real-time bus and MAX arrivals online, on the street and over the phone. Unlike schedules, the system tracks the actual location of your bus or train, so you know exactly when your ride is coming. Instead of standing at the stop, you may choose to wait inside, run another errand, grab a cup of coffee or finish one more project.

Portland Streetcar arrivals
TransitTracker provides arrival information for Portland Streetcar. Streetcar arrivals are also available at portlandstreetcar.org.
How it works
For buses, TransitTracker uses state-of-the-art Global Positioning System (GPS) technology to track how far a bus is from a stop. Every TriMet bus is equipped with a transmitter that allows continuous satellite tracking with an accuracy of about 30 feet.
For MAX trains, sensors embedded in the MAX tracks record the speed of the train and the time it passes the sensor.
This real-time information is then made available to riders on the street via electronic displays installed in bus shelters and MAX stations, online at trimet.org and over the phone at 503-238-RIDE.
TransitTracker's arrival countdowns are estimates based on the location of the vehicle and the scheduled speed along its route. If the system can't make an accurate prediction (because, for example, the vehicle is too far away or if its transmitter isn't working), the scheduled arrival time is displayed instead.
In the event of an emergency, TransitTracker's on-street displays can also provide important information and instructions to riders.
