Text transcript of this episode

There are a few simple rules to remember while riding TriMet.

First, valid and correct fare is required. Outside Fareless Square, you need a ticket, pass or transfer every time.

If you're in the priority seating area by the door, move aside for seniors and people with disabilities. They need that seat more than you do. Parents with strollers may use this area as long as it's not occupied or needed by seniors or people with disabilities.

It's illegal to threaten the safety of a rider or operator, or interfere with the movement of a bus or train.

Don't be so loud that you disturb others. Everyone deserves a comfortable ride, so excessive noise is not allowed on TriMet.

Keep the aisles and doorways clear of personal belongings. On buses and the older MAX trains with steps, strollers must be folded after boarding. If you're standing, move back so others can board.

If you're traveling with a pet, you must keep it inside a carrier unless it's a service animal.

And finally, eating is not allowed on buses or MAX, but you can bring food and drinks on board in closed containers.

When we all follow the rules, it makes the ride safer and more comfortable for everyone. Not only that, it helps your bus or train stay on schedule.

Thanks for being a responsible rider!
