40-Tacoma/Swan Island connects Swan Island, Rose Quarter, Portland City Center, South Portland, Sellwood, SE Tacoma/Johnson Creek Park & Ride and Clackamas Town Center via Basin, Cutter Circle, Going, Greeley, Interstate, 5th/6th, Macadam, Tacoma and Linwood. One morning and one afternoon weekday trip provides a connection between Fuller Road MAX Station and Cleveland High School.

Beginning Sunday, August 23, Line 40 will be extended to replace Line 34 between SE Tacoma/Johnson Creek Park & Ride and Clackamas Town Center. Buses will arrive about every 60 minutes on weekdays, and there will be no weekend service between the Park & Ride and Clackamas Town Center. One morning and one afternoon weekday trip on Line 40 to Fuller Road MAX Station provides a connection between Southeast Portland and MAX Green Line. Beginning Tuesday, September 1, through Thursday, September 3, no service to the northbound stop at SW 6th & Washington (Stop ID 7803) from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. due to utility work. Use the temp stop at SW 6th & Oak.
Beginning Monday, August 31, through Friday, September 4, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., no service in either direction at SE Tacoma & 17th (Stop IDs 5668 & 5669) due to construction. For trips to Swan Island, use temp stop on utility pole 40 ft prior to Tacoma & 16th. And for trips to Tacoma Park and Ride, use temp stop on 3rd utility pole 300 ft east of 17th.
