40-Tacoma/Swan Island provides daily service between Swan Island, Rose Quarter, Portland City Center, South Portland, Sellwood, and SE Tacoma/Johnson Creek Park & Ride, along Basin, Cutter Circle, Going, Greeley, Interstate, 5th/6th, Macadam and Tacoma.

No service at southbound stops, N Interstate & Albina (Stop ID 2945), N Interstate & Tillamook (Stop ID 11844) and N Interstate & Larrabee (Stop ID 11845) due to paving.
Effective Aug. 23, 2026 Beginning Sunday, August 23, Line 40 will be extended to replace Line 34 between SE Tacoma/Johnson Creek Park & Ride and Clackamas Town Center. Buses will arrive about every 60 minutes on weekdays, and there will be no weekend service between the Park & Ride and Clackamas Town Center. One morning and one afternoon weekday trip on Line 40 to Fuller Road MAX Station provides a connection between Southeast Portland and MAX Green Line.
